By the RMA Crew
We've got a lot of spoons. We've got a lot of band puns. This is not a coincidence.
The Heavy Hitters series covers the rest of the 2 oz UV lineup — everything from Nickelback tributes to German death metal to pirate metal to classic rock. The names are all over the map. The target species is not: primarily king salmon, with lake trout, coho, and steelhead always in the mix.
Nickelcracken is our Nickelback tribute. Yes, we went there. No, we don't regret it. The color profile was built for Great Lakes kings, and it produces — which is more than most people will admit about Nickelback publicly.
Alestorm is named after the actual pirate metal band Alestorm, and it might be our most on-brand spoon name in the entire lineup. A fishing company making a pirate metal spoon just makes sense. Built for king salmon, great for lake trout and coho.
Ononderection is our One Direction tribute and proof that no band is safe from the RMA naming process. The color profile is built for kings. The name is built for laughs at the launch ramp.
Lamprey Of God is our Lamb of God tribute — heavy name, heavy fish. Built for king salmon on the Great Lakes, and one of the more aggressive color profiles in the lineup. If you're fishing deep structure and want something with presence, Lamprey Of God delivers.
Ice Nine Gills is our Ice Nine Kills tribute and one of the sharper puns in the whole series. The UV color profile was built for Great Lakes kings and works across the water column. Lake trout and coho won't turn it down either.
Linkin Shark is our Linkin Park tribute. In the end, it doesn't even matter what you're fishing for — this spoon catches kings, lake trout, coho, and steelhead. The color profile is versatile enough to work across conditions and species.
Splashing Pumpkins is our Smashing Pumpkins tribute, and despite the name, it has nothing to do with fall fishing specifically — though it absolutely rips during the fall king run. Built for Great Lakes kings year-round.
Van Whalen is our Van Halen tribute. Eddie Van Halen shredded. This spoon shreds. The UV color profile was built for king salmon and holds up across the full Great Lakes species lineup.
Skamstein is our tribute to the German death metal band Rammstein — Great Lakes fishing meets European heavy metal, which is exactly the kind of crossover nobody asked for and everybody needed. Built for king salmon, great for lake trout and coho.
Steelie Dan is our Steely Dan tribute — and yes, the name is a steelhead pun, but like every other spoon in this lineup, it was built primarily for king salmon. Steelhead, lake trout, and coho will absolutely eat it too. The name just happened to work on multiple levels.
Avenged Salmonfold is our Avenged Sevenfold tribute and one of the most requested colorways in the lineup. Built for Great Lakes kings, works across species. The name is perfect. The spoon backs it up.
Every spoon in the Heavy Hitters series was developed on the water by the RMA crew and tested on Great Lakes kings before it ever hit the store. The names are ridiculous. The fish counts are not.
